Sullivans Creek

I see an interesting Dali-meets-Monet kind of beauty in this shot. (no digital processing)

It's actually a fountain of raw sewage from under the local creek/drain. The local government, and its Greens, refused to acknowledge its existence for many months though it was flowing into the Canberra's central ornamental lake. Quite surreal in a Kafkaesque kind of way.

Many years go this was a shallow natural creek bordered by rushes with a wide flood-plain and host to many frogs – a good sign of water purity. We caught tadpoles and watched them transform into frogs. As a child that was quite surreal too in a beautiful, magical way.
